Ceramic Banjolele - Ukulele - Hand-Built ($295)
This ceramic banjolele was hand built- thrown on the potter's wheel and assembled over 2
months. There's a pine neck, rosewood fret board, wooden bridge, goat skin head, and nylon
strings. A metal string mount at the bottom is attached to the ceramic base.
To achieve the colors on the banjolele, I melted a green beer bottle over the back of the instrument while it was being fired in the kiln. The other glass I used fused to that, providing a very interesting range of color interactions that I like a lot. Very rare instrument - on sale, post-christmas, for $350.
