This 8-key electric kalimba is made out of ceramic, wood, and spring steel. The body was thrown on the potter's wheel and then shaped by hand. The piece was glazed in brown and blue and fired twice. A wooden top was added, and a steel bridge was attached. There is a microphone built into the kalimba, mounted under the bridge, and the input jack is on the top of the instrument. It can be plugged into any type of amplifier. The keys on the instrument were all made by hand, shaped, sanded and bent by the designer, Gabe Turow (stoneinstruments.com).
