This udu was thrown on the potter's wheel - the main body was created, and then a hollow doughnut shape was made. The pieces were joined together to create a larger resonating cavity for the udu. The "wings" play the same pitch as eachother, but a different pitch than main body when struck with the player's fingers for a mallet.
